One day a man came to a wide river bank to attain enlightenment. He pondered for hours on how to cross such a wide barrier while staring hopelessly at the great obstacle in front of him. While he was to give up his pursuit he saw a great teacher on the other side of the river. The man yelled over to the teacher, "Oh wise one, can you tell me how to get to the other side of this river I am in a search of enlightenment?" The teacher pondered for a moment and yelled back, "My son, you are already on the other side."

People wander, physically and mentally, to attain true enlightenment. The ignition is in the car not outside the car. Real enlightenment is within each one like the pupil is in the eye....

A rich man said to his friend, "Why is everyone always criticizing me for being miserly. Everyone knows that I have made provision to leave everything I have to charity when I die?" "Well," said the friend, “Let me tell you a story about a pig and a cow.

A pig was complaining one day to a cow about how unpopular the pig was. "People are always talking about your gentleness and your kindness, you give milk and cream, but I give even more”, said the pig. It continued, “I give bacon and ham. I give bristles and they even pickle my feet! Still no one likes me; I'm just a pig. Why is this?" The cow thought for a minute, and then said, "Well, maybe it's because I give while I'm still living”.

A martial arts student approached his teacher with a question. "I'd like to improve my knowledge of the martial arts. In addition to learning from you, I'd like to study with another teacher in order to learn another style. What do you think of this idea?" the master answered, "The hunter who chases two rabbits catches neither one."

The magic of doing one thing at a time can change you into a Master. Our minds behave like monkeys jumping branches after branches. Your mind is your instrument; learn to be its master and not its slave.

While a group of frogs were travelling through the woods two of them fell into a deep pit. All the other frogs gathered around the pit and told to two frogs that they were as good as dead since the pit was very deep. But they tried to jump up out with all their might. Finally, one of the two took heed to what other frogs were saying and gave up. She fell down and died. The other frog continued to jump as hard as she could. She began jumping even harder and finally made it out. When she got out, the other frogs said, "Did you not hear us?" The frog told them that “it thought they were encouraging her to jump out of the pit the entire time”, the frog was deaf.

Once two monks were washing their bowls in a river and noticed a scorpion drowning. One monk immediately scooped it up. In the process he was stung by the scorpion and it fell in the river. The monk once more saved the scorpion and it stung him again. The other monk who was watching this all asked him, "Friend, why do you continue to save the scorpion when you know it's nature is to sting?" The monk replied, "Because to save it is my nature”

A young man was at the end of his training and soon he would be a teacher. Like all good pupils, he needed to challenge his teacher. So he caught a bird, placed it on a hand and went to see his teacher.

The young man’s plan was that if his teacher said “dead”, he would open his hand and the bird would fly away. If the teacher said “‘alive” he would crush the bird between his fingers. This way the teacher would be wronged.

The young man asked, “Teacher is this bird alive or dead?” “My dear student that depends on you”, teacher replied.
